The Canton Branch

Nook.png

The Canton Branch is the first branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, and one of the first branch libraries in Maryland. Twice, in 1993 and 2001, the Friends campaigned aggressively and successfully to prevent the closure of the branch due to budget cuts. Partnered with other community groups, we raised $275,000 for its renovation in 2017. After four years of being closed, the branch re-opened in February of 2016  with entirely new floorplans, features, and technology. Now, the library hosts many community events and continues to be a strong presence in Canton while preserving its historical legacy.

Features -

The newly renovated library has an accessible entrance, reading/studying desks, public computers, community group meeting space, free internet and wi-fi, printers/scanners/copiers, and many books, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines for all ages.
